Chapter 01

Packing a Sunnyrock CNC for travel

Sunnyrock Pack covers a setup where packing, protection, and machine access all matter at the same time. The desktop CNC needs to stay shielded in transit and storage, while still being simple to load and use once it is on site.

Sunnyrock Pack is built around moving and storing a desktop CNC without leaving the machine awkward to use once it arrives. Foam support, crate clearances, cable routing, and door access all matter when the unit must be protected between sites in South Africa. Dust from MDF, chips from aluminium, and fine plastic swarf also affect how the machine should be covered before and after transport.

Photos of the machine on its current bench help define where handles, panels, and tie-down points should sit. A simple loading note can then stay with the crate or machine file so the spindle, rails, and spoilboard are checked the same way each time. That routine is useful after road transport, storage, or a site move where parts may have shifted.

Chapter 02

What the pack needs to do

The setup must protect the machine, keep key accessories together, and allow regular material loading without turning every session into a full unpack. Storage space, bench height, and the reach needed around the work area are part of the brief. For a desktop CNC, access is as important as padding.

Send the Sunnyrock Pack brief with the work area size, packing requirements, and any crate, cover, or support piece that has failed or been damaged before. Include timing, the machine layout, and anything that makes loading stock difficult on site. If there is paperwork that must travel with the machine, mention where it needs to be kept.

  • Protection for spindle, rails, and cable runs
  • Loading checks recorded with site photos
  • Crate and bench details kept together

Chapter 03

Storage and transport conditions here

A machine that lives inland may arrive covered in dry workshop dust, while a coastal unit can pick up corrosion risk if it sits closed for too long. Courier handling, bakkie transport, and repeated lifting in and out of a work area all change the type of support needed under the frame. If the setup shares space with tooling, clamps, or stock racks, note that in the brief.

Power cuts can interrupt long jobs, so access to the machine after storage should be quick and predictable when power returns. On smaller sites, the crate or cover also has to make sense in tight passages, shared rooms, and garages where material is brought in by hand. Regular checks usually focus on alignment points, loose fittings, and any rubbing where packing touches the machine.

Chapter 04

What to include with Sunnyrock Pack

Share the Sunnyrock Pack brief with photos of the work area, packing or crating needs, timing, and any damaged, unsuitable, or failed items already identified. Keep the subject line straightforward.

Add photos of the machine in place, the route in and out of storage, and the type of sheets or parts loaded most often. It also helps to note any damaged foam, weak crate panels, awkward lifting points, or covers that trap dust against the machine. That gives the packing and access requirements proper context.
